AUR congratulates the Independence Party of Iceland for its victory in the Parliamentary elections

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) congratulates the Independence Party of Iceland for its victory in the Parliamentary elections held on September 25th, 2021.

We are glad that the Independence Party has received 24.4% of the votes, keeping more seats in the Althing (16 out of 63) than any other Party, and remaining the largest parliamentary party in Iceland.

We congratulate Mr Bjarni Benediktsson for his leadership, as the most voted candidate for Prime Minister in this parliamentary election, having enlisted the support of thousands of Icelandic citizens in defense of the stability and prosperity of the country.

As a sister conservative political Party, AUR celebrates this result as an important step in ensuring the well-being of Iceland.

The Independence Party of Iceland is a member of the European Conservative political family, to which AUR naturally also belongs due to its conservative orientation and doctrinarian affinities.

During its meeting of August 2nd, 2021, the Presidency of the European Conservatives and Reformists (ECR) Party voted unanimously in favour of the accession of the Alliance for the Union of Romanians to the ECR Party.
